When you walk on a footpath and a horse ridden by someone is approaching, who should give way?

By law, the rider must give way to any pedestrian on a footpath or nature strip. [Well, if you were unfortunately hit by the horse because the rider had not read this tip, good luck! 
Therefore, the legal advice to you is - the rider has to give way; but my personal advice to you is – you better give way first!]
